“It was unfortunate. That was kind of an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was completely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
